CONGRATULATIONS to Mark Hartley who took part in the Lancashire Schools Cross Country on 5th february, 2000 at Hyndburn. Mark moved up an age group and came in 3rd to gain a place at the Inter County Cross Country Championships to be held in London on March 19th, 2000. Well done Mark and good luck from everyone at Burnley AC.

East Lancashire Under 11's Indoor Athletics at Robin Park, Wigan was the venue for a great day out. Burnley took 8 young athletes and did really well with the Boys coming 2nd and the Girls 3rd. Well done to Rebecca Goodwin, Keiron Flynn, Emma Hornsby, Danielle Walker, Ashley Graham, Daniel Likaker, Lindsay sturdy and Lianna Meakin .

Colin Bailey took part in the North of England and AAA combined Pentathlon events at the National Indoor arena and came 2nd and 4th respectively.

Mid Lancs Cross Country in Leyland: once again Burnley had a big team competing. We had lots of teams from all age groups. Congratulations again to Mark who came first in his age group. All the other competitors ran extremely well. Senior men John Linaker, Jack Walsh and veteran John Edwards had a very hard course and performed superbly.

MacDonalds Girls League: I have now had some correspondence from the MacDonalds Girls League. I'll keep you posted with more information as and when I receive it. Official dates are as follows:

21st May - Bury @ Bury Athletic Arena
2nd July - Blakely & N. Manchester @ Boggart Hole!
23rd July - Trafford @ Longfield Park

Indoor Athletics . Sunday 13th february saw a huge Burnley AC team at Hyndburn Sports Centre for their Indoor Athletics for U11's and U15's. It was great to see so many Burnley vests and lots of supporters for our young athletes. It is hard to mention everyone who competed, but special congratulations to Danielle Walker who came 2nd in her 2 lap event and 3rd in her Long Jump, and Susan Bissell who came 2nd in both the Shot Putt and Vertical Jump. Well done to everyone who competed.

Burnley Athletic Club Sweatshirts are now available and we need to know roughly how many to order as soon as possible. Could anyone interested please see Sue Ingham on club nights. We are able to order all sizes, you don't need to be a competitor to wear on. Burnley vests are also available from Sue - remember you cannot compete for your club without a vest.
