These links are by no means as comprehensive as I'd like to make them - if you'd like us to link to your athletics or sports-related site please email
We've been asked to add an athletics link for a very good cause:
The British Golden Jubilee 10K Open Road Race, London
One of the organisers emailed us "The event on July 21st is expected to have 20,000 runners with a big team (including from all boroughs of the New York Fire Dept) raising funds for the victims of the New York terrorism attacks of 2001, and the event may be started by the Mayors of London & New York, any Event profits being divided among the charities after."
Other charities will also benefit and it appears that they are attracting a good many runners, who are being sponsored by a good many charities.
By popular demand:

Allan Preston has negotiated reciprocal links between the BAC site and Momentum Sports:
the growing Momentum Sports Web Site
lists many clubs and tracks around the country
Athletics-Heroes.net A very interesting site containing hundreds of famous British athletes from the past. Also has pages containing famous footballers, rugby players, cricket & tennis stars, famous golfers, etc. A mine of information with good search facilities.
North of England Athletics Association
TSB Athletics (including Junior Rankings)
Athletics net Another interesting site contailing latest results, readers' polls, etc.
Three more interesting sites which have recently come to our attention:
www.track-and-field - as it says on the tin :-)
Marathon-World.com - hundreds of Marathon races in 59 countries and lots of links to Marathon related web sites covering training and injuries.
Running-World.net - a well-organised and presented directory, covering Running events, clubs, athletes, sports equipment, statistics, training, injuries, news and much more.
Running-World.net - a well-organised and presented directory, covering Running events, clubs, athletes, sports equipment, statistics, training, injuries, news and much more.
Here's a new site which is essentially a general discussion forum aimed at helping and promoting British Athletics in general:
http://www.talkathletics.co.uk
Current categories are:
For those whose main interest is in running, try this comprehensive and well laid out site:
http://www.trentham-running-club.co.uk
Singapore Athletics - note change of URL: http://SingaporeAthletics.com - still in the precess of being developed but it looks as though this site is going to be an interesting, well laid out site.
Another site aimed at runners - this time marathon or would-be marathon runners - that has recently come to our attention:
Marathon Training: www.marathon-training.net
Lots of info about getting geared up/running marathons and links to other material.
Not strictly connected to athletics but a link to another Burnley website:
Lots of local information and links.
And finally, again although not directly related to athletics, my thanks to Steve Glover, a Burnley AC member without whose help this web site may never have got started! Until fairly recently Steve was a teacher at a Burnley school and is the author of a popular French Language Teacher's Website aimed mainly at Secondary School level.
These links will be added to/amended as often as possible - please let us know if you would like to have your site included in these links.
You may have noticed there are no flashy whizbangs, bells or whistles on this site: let me explain ...
Have you ever visited a website that won't let you in because you haven't got the latest version of browser X or plugin Y? Frustrating or what? My philosophy is that the internet should be accessible to all and so this web site is in fact two (or more!) sites in one.
If the browser you're using can handle tables then for you it's a site using tables to help you navigate.
But what if you're using an older browser that can't handle tables? Or you want to browse in text-only mode?
Well, in keeping with the philosophy above, this site has been designed to be as open and accessible to as many people as possible - you don't have/don't like tables? No problem! You want to use a text-only browser, because you prefer it that way or you're visually impaired? Again, no problem.
We do hope you like this web site: if you have any comments about it or suggestions, please Mike Morris
